ABOUT

I was born in Dresden in 1968. I completed my vocational training and A-levels in 1988 in East Germany. I then wanted to study theater directing, but this was denied me for political reasons, so in 1989 I discovered my own stage: the camera.

Self-taught and through seminars (camera, lighting, equipment, script) with renowned film professionals, I acquired the necessary knowledge to realize my own film ideas and work as an image designer.

In 1993 I founded my own production company - Atelier Eckart Reichl.

As a freelance director cameraman, I work worldwide, mainly on documentaries. By working closely with experienced screenwriters, directors, voice actors and translators, I am able to also produce film essays, dance and music films, feature films as well as advertising and image films.

Since 1998, I have also been supervising film projects as part of my teaching activities at various universities and institutes. I have been a member of the WESDM Movies Company and the BVK since 2020.

I have been increasingly working as a live cameraman on theater and opera stages since 2021.
